One week off of school and I have big plans. I thought I'd share my goals with you to help me get them organized and to keep me accountable.
I want to organize the photos on my camera's SD card which leads me into my next goal of doing LOTS of scrapbooking. I want to try out some new recipes from my friend Sarah's blog - "Whole and Heavenly Oven". Some of the recipes I'd like to try are..
- rye bread - my husband's favourite kind of bread so I'd like to master it.
- homemade marshmallows - I think this would be cool. It's been on my to do list for a long time and Sarah's recipe looks good.
- ginger molasses snickernoodles - I love molasses cookies.
- red velvet fudge cookies - fudge - need I say more? I think not.
I need to put away our annual grain order. My husband took a couple of our children and picked up our year's supply of grain on Saturday. They were out of spelt and steel cut oats so we'll have to go backfor those when they come in. Other than that we got hard wheat, quick cook oat flakes, navy beans, black beans and maple syrup. You know you're out in the country when the road sign looks like this...
All of this for less than $600 - That's less than $60 per person for a year's worth of grains. |
But my biggest goal of all is to potty train my three-year-old. We've talked about this for months trying to prepare him. He's pretty excited right now. We'll see how he is once we actually start.
Do you have any great potty training tips? This is #7 for me, and I'm still dreading it.
Does the grain keep for that long? I've heard that some grains don't last for more than a few months.
ReplyDeleteOurs has always lasted a year. I just used the last of our hard wheat the day before we went to pick up this order. I don't know about longer than a year because we're always scraping the bottom of the barrel by the time we make our next order. :)
ReplyDeleteI am impressed you get a years grain for that price. Very impressive! I would love to be able to do that, but with allergies and the gluten intolerance thing...well...you can guess how hard that is!
ReplyDeleteI'm so thankful none of us have food allergies/gluten intolerance. I know it keeps my life a lot less complicated.
DeleteMy kids will want you to take over their school - they don't get spring break even WITH moving haha ;).
ReplyDeleteDon't forget, Ethan, go potty and wear big boy undies and Aunt Goo-gie is sending you something!
My goal is just to get through this move and when Pierre is away in March we WILL 'vacation' and just do school in morning and field trips in the afternoon since Gillette has a free science and a free history museum.
We've done March break at different times before. That's one of the beauties of homeschooling. :)
DeleteWow - that's a lot of grains! Sounds like you've got a lot happening :)
ReplyDeleteJust hope I can get through it all.
